Thank you beautifully written article. Full of useful tips ( never too old to learn) familiar ‘problems’ ( clumsy wood pigeons) and gardening knowledge Loved it , good to see you back 💚

I agree about pigeons! In my garden, it’s band-tailed pigeons. They are like flying chickens. Huge!

The critters who dig in my containers and dump out the mulch are not birds, but chipmunks.

TheGardeningKind's avatar

Yes our wood pigeons are huge too. Probably why they’re so terrible at landing ;-) Oh gosh, chipmunks! How do you cope with those? Our squirrels plant hazelnuts and walnuts in ours.

Strawberry mivvi, that takes me back!

The evening scent has been divine, shame that it comes at such a cost.

TheGardeningKind's avatar

Ah yes, the strawberry mivvi. I wasn’t sure anyone would get that nostalgic throwback. Excellent. That’s made my day. Yes it has been lovely but gosh has it been a scorcher!!!!

Pigeons - surely the daftest animal on the planet. I’m not sure how they survive. Even the cat ignores them as they are just too easy to catch.

TheGardeningKind's avatar

Haha! Exactly. Even my soppy do could have caught them. Idiot birds.

Started a slow Saturday morning off beautifully. Incapacitated by a painful back not much but slow pottering for me and a stroll around a tiny newish to us garden, planning what next to buy to fill the spaces in the new borders made from where edge to edge grass grew. Thank you.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your back. How frustrating! I do love a slow potter though and making a plant shopping list sounds like fun! Enjoy the new garden and make those borders nice and deep!
