The Midweek Clippings
Introducing the new weekly feature to my Substack. "Clippings" is all about the basics, the quick tasks and the more enjoyable pottering. It's short, sweet and guaranteed to be under 5 minutes!
Please forgive this early post, but I just wanted to announce a new development! Sitting here in the garden, lounging uncomfortably on a wooded garden bench, I have been thinking about my ‘to do’ list and how it always seems to get longer, despite hurriedly ticking off items. As soon as I sit down I spot something that needs doing or that I’ve overlooked. I know I’m not alone on this!
THAT got me thinking about the gargantuan “Spring Gardening” jobs piece that I so unfairly dumped on you all. That was information overload, overwhelming, and the lesson has been learned. Thank you for the feedback! There can be too much of a good thing, no matter how well-intended. I am always listening, so do feel free to comment or message me.
THIS got me thinking about how to portion up the information that I really want to share. Because, above all, I want to help other gardeners, especially beginners and novices. So, I reached out to all you lovely readers via the app’s Chat and I just asked. I had a lovely response and many supportive messages…
AND HERE WE ARE… Clippings!! A midweek read, posted Tuesday or Wednesday, that’ll be a maximum of five minutes. It’s all about the fundamentals, with tips on the basics: Pruning, watering and feeding, weeding, sowing seeds, planting, mulching, potting plants, composting, deadheading, garden tools, etc.
I just wanted to make you aware because this has been created on a new Section, so if you’re not interested in my “Clippings”, you can easily unsubscribe from it and just keep my regular weekend read. The choice is yours. The first couple of subjects will be around using nematodes for slug control and then pruning hydrangeas, or vice versa as time is ticking on those.
I hope you’ll enjoy the new addition to my publication!
Best wishes, Elliott
What a fabulous idea!
Loving all of your posts 👍
