I really enjoyed reading this, and am now going to try and embrace autumn rather than mourn the end of summer. Thank you.

What a lovely read. Your words make me feel I am immersed in your surroundings and although still deep into putting our own stamp into our new home with a bare edge to edge grass garden, you have given me the nudge to get those borders dug out ready for planting. Cuttings and shrubs in big pots we brought with us have survived well but need to be in the ground to hunker down and build up for next year hopefully to emerge stronger. A year of recovering from major surgery has meant just sitting back and planning in my head for a new garden to take shape, wish me luck!

Thank you so much. That's very kind. A wonderful time of year to get your new garden going. Those cuttings and shrubs will establish strong roots systems over winter. Wishing you all the very best for your recovery and the garden.

Am already thinking about changes to make for next year. My favourite garden centre has some 9” perennials out for £3 each. I’ve bought some to pot on and overwinter in the cold frame to get a head start for next summer.

I felt like we were having a conversation on your garden bench. In North Carolina the leaves are beginning to change and drop, but it’s early, and they just sort of float down. Fewer and fewer butterflies. I had to laugh about what you said about spider webs. We had a huge one ,going from the gutters of the porch roof, down to the holly bush in the front garden. It housed a large, nocturnal spider! Beautiful and intimidating! We are planting some bulbs this year, and soon we will plant violas for a last burst of color this Fall and a first burst of color in the Spring. I have enjoyed this gardening year with you. Thank you.

Thank you! That’s very kind. That was my hope! So glad you felt that way. Gosh! Sounds like something from the film Arachnophobia! Thankfully, our orb spiders are quite small… but cunning! Love bulbs and violas. Sounds wonderful.

That's really kind. I've enjoyed sharing my garden with you.
