Thankyou for these - will make lovely weekend reading. A seed to plant for the future would be year round container interest in shady areas (well it canβt just be me!). I have the extremes of a south facing and north facing terraceβ¦. Trying to bump up my cuttings of plectranthus & pellie tormentosum for next year but the areas always look miserable in winter πππ
Youβre very welcome. Did you see my recent Shade Gardening series. I have a case study about my north facing shady table. But I will note that down too. Winter shade is tricky and I generally rely on hellebores and flowering bulbs.
These really are gorgeous. I am very much looking forward to the next one about spring bulbs. If itβs not too late, could I make a plea to include something about quantities of bulbs to pot for us novice bulb in pot gardeners please? And for the different sized bulbs too. I see so many different bits of advice and have seen some saying to plant the same number of bulbs as the size of the pot, but is that width or depth?? π π§. I fear I completely over stuffed some of my pots last year and they looked a total mess but as a whole year has gone past I cannot remember for the life of me how many I planted to then work out what I need to do this year ππββοΈ. Lesson learned is to write things down, but I keep forgetting π€.
Hi Natalie. Thank you very much. So glad you like them. Lots more to come. No, not too late for requests ;-) But that's a tricky one to formalise as it depends on the pot, bulb, cultivar, arrangement.
All, I'd recommend is to pack them in a finger-width apart. So close, they're almost touching, but not quite. In a regular bucket, I pack in around 15 tulips or narcissus bulbs. But I also think it's best to keep it simple.
Plant just one type of bulb per pot. Then, when in bloom, these can be moved around for best effect. Rather than pots with different bulbs at different stage, usually with lots of leaves and no real identity. Hope this helps for now.

Thatβs brilliant - thank you!
