Thank you, this was very helpful. Any suggestions for keeping rabbits from dining on the hostas?

Constance (previous comment) uses metal wire cloches when they’re at their most vulnerable. You could also use horticultural fleece but that’s rather unsightly. Maybe a temporary chicken wire fence?

Thank you Elliott, at least I'm doing something right - growing my hotas in pots! I only have three hostas, one will need splitting next year as it it has outgrown its pot. I don't have any of the blue leaved hostas but must get some. Thank yiu for Avery informative ans enjoyable read.

I really enjoy your writing and seeing photos of your garden. My hostas have a challenge you haven’t mentioned—bunnies! They love the new hosta leaves just as the leaves emerge from the ground. I have to use wire cloches during that stage of growth. Planters would raise the hostas above bunny height; you've given me food for thought.

Thank you! 😊 That’s very kind of you. Oh yes! Thankfully not something I have in my garden. Just the squirrels always digging things up. Definitely try it. If nothing else, raising them up brings them closer to yours eyes so you can admire them even more 💚
